Freedom is precious, and life is short. That is why my practice is devoted to criminal defense.
My name is David V. Lampman, II and I am a criminal defense and DUI lawyer in Pennsylvania. My office is located in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County; however, I practice throughout northeastern and central Pennsylvania.
I believe that hiring a criminal defense lawyer is an extremely important decision and you should know what you are getting from the start. I want my clients to make an informed decision when they hire me. Therefore, here is some basic information about my law practice, how I treat my clients, and how I will handle your case.
Criminal defense is not just what I do—it is all I do. I became a lawyer because I want to help people pursue justice. I love my job and I'm passionate about fighting for the rights of the underdog.
I devote my practice to criminal and DUI cases because the law is complex, and the stakes are so high. Defending my clients, mastering the nuance of criminal defense, and keeping current with criminal law demands my complete attention. It's also about respect for you, your freedom, and your future. You deserve a full-time defense attorney that knows all aspects of criminal law. I have substantial experience defending all criminal cases from traffic and DUI offenses to homicide cases.
I believe in the American Criminal Justice System and that it is what makes our country special. I have defended many difficult and extremely unpopular cases. I stand with people when no one else believes in them or their case. I defend clients who are assumed guilty before trial and who many people, even other defense lawyers, believe their trial will be a mere formality and preamble to a conviction. I know the awesome satisfaction of winning that type of case. Those types of cases have taught me to trust juries, our system, and to believe in the impossible.
I also know the reality of being a criminal lawyer and the lows it can bring. Acquittals are a great reward; however, nothing motivates me more than the dread of having a client taken into custody. I am in court daily and pay attention to every case before the court. I see people taken into custody and the moment when they lose their freedom. It is an awful and a haunting sight but a reminder of what is at stake. It's that gut-wrenching feeling that I work so hard to avoid.
I am in Pennsylvania criminal and DUI courts daily helping people fight their legal battles. I have negotiated hundreds of favorable deals for my clients, gotten serious criminal charges dismissed, and I have won significant jury trials. I have the attitude and experience needed to keep you free, protect your future, and help you win your case.
I feel that the attorney-client relationship is more than a legal classification and a business agreement. To me it is a critical personal relationship. For that reason, I want to know all about my clients, their story, and why they need my help. I want to know your goals and understand them. I want to comprehend your point of view and express it in a winning legal argument. Further, I believe it is fundamentally important that I am easily accessible to my clients. I pride myself on reliable and honest communication with my clients.
I also understand that the contents of a case file do not tell the entire story. That is why my investigation does not end with the file on my desk. I believe in listening to my clients and following all logical leads. Often the simplest searches beyond the file can yield game changing results.
Likewise, I understand that criminal cases have reach far beyond law offices and courtrooms. I understand the human element of criminal cases and believe it is important to consider and discuss their impact. In short, the best legal strategy may not always be what is best for you. I never lose site of the fact that the case belongs to the client.
If you hire me, my focus will be on your case and achieving your goals. We will discuss your case, weigh your options, and decide what approach is best for you. The only guarantee that I will ever offer is that I will give you and your case the attention it ought to have. I will do my best to fight for your legal rights and to protect your freedoms.
If you have a criminal case or legal question please call me; my phone number is 570-371-3737, and I am eager to help you. I will speak to you about your case and schedule a meeting with you in my office.
I do not charge for this telephone call and my initial consultation is also free if you decide not to hire me. During our first meeting we will discuss your case and I will determine how I can help you. We will also discuss a fee arrangement for my legal services. I always provide a written fee agreement that explains the terms of our relationship that you will have an opportunity to review before you decide to hire me.
